This oxbow lake was once the main branch of the mighty Mississippi River until in 1722 seasonal flooding cut a shorter branch to the east. Today, the lake is properly named False River and provides for lots of boating, swimming, fishing, and neighborly fun.

Are there any events going on during my stay?
Fishing
- Catfish are biting on live worms, either tightlining on the bottom or with a cork +/- 40″ from the hook. (do not put excessive leads or giant hooks, keep it simple)
- Fish baskets are provided at each camp.
- 3 fishing rods and light tackle can be rented upon request for $30.
